On my way home from WidgetWebExpo. Decent conference, low attendance, but good speakers overall. The best was my talk at 5pm on the last day. The audience was amazed. However, the audience never showed up. Can’t compete with happy hour I guess.

I’ll drop some links to some of the awesome people I met once I get off the Acela.

Coffee on Rails

I am on my way to my fourth conference of the month. This time, Widget Web Expo. Should be ultra-geeky..well, hopefully. Taking the Acela train. It’s always a nice train, expensive, and now..thanks to gas prices, ultra packed. I’m riding in the Cafe car. Literally. Sitting here with my extra-large, bulky, and slow work computer surrounded by the smell of coffee, nutragrain bars, and pissed off sweating men and woman in suits who can’t find a seat. I’m sitting on a bar stool, facing perpendicular to the direction the train is heading. Not ideal at all, especially for $145 each way.

Dear Amtrak, stop overbooking your trains.

NODE is a Berlin and Oslo based graphic design studio, founded in 2003 by Anders Hofgaard (NO) and Serge Rompza (DE). Vladimir Llovet Casademont (DE/ES) joined the collaboration 2006. All three studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam.
The studio works for international clients and on self initiated projects across various media: books, magazines, posters, typefaces, identities, exhibition design, signage and websites. NODE collaborates with freelance designers, illustrators, photographers and programmers.

Leitwerk

My German is non-existent, but from what I gather, Leitwerk is a design firm in Cologne, Germany. The site may be in German, the images however, are not.

Our first art-related post here at DNFTF, though I suppose this is really not all too different from the usual design postings going on here. Regardless, California artist Brandon Bird made my day with his talent and wit.
